Weave of Life

02

There is no greater power for change than a community working together to achieve a shared goal. Being part of a collected and united support system will give a sense of belongingness. Alone we can achieve so little but as a group, anything is possible. Through cooperating together and effectively managing and sharing the resources available, the community will thrive.

Before hiking the Inca Trail for 4 days and 3 nights going to Machu Picchu, you should pass through the beautiful Sacred Valley of the Incas, also known as the Urubamba Valley located in the Peruvian Andes in the region of Cuzco. There, you will learn how the Planeterra Women's Weaving Co-operative has impacted the Ccaccaccollo Indigenous community in the Andean area and the people who visit them. This series of photos shows the local weaving and dyeing techniques used to create garments and souvenirs made by the community of women weavers.
